Introduction
Advantech's MIC-5332 is a dual processor ATCA blade based on the Intel Xeon E5-2600 series. It enables the highest performance available in ATCA form factor with up to 20 cores and 40 threads of processing power, PCIe gen. 3 lanes up to 8Gbps, and best in class virtualization support. With four DDR3 DIMMs per socket in a quad channel design running up to 1600MT/s, the MIC-5332 offers superior memory bandwidth over 3-channel designs and supports up to 256GB with LR DIMMs. It outperforms previous designs while keeping similar thermals with balanced airflow resistance. Using Intel's latest PCH with integrated 4-port SAS controller, the MIC-5332 is ideal for cost sensitive control plane applications.
With two 10GBaseKX4 interfaces in the base model, dual dual-star fabrics can be added by installing a FMM-5001 Fabric Mezzanine Module (FMM). The FMM type II socket with PCIe x16 connectivity provides extensions such as front I/O, acceleration with the future Intel® chipset code name Cave Creek or custom logic. FMMs have higher PCIe bandwidth than AMCs and integrate better in terms of thermals and real estate. FMMs can also be reused on RTMs and on different blade designs.
The onboard IPMI firmware was developed entirely by Advantech to offer greater modularity and flexibility for the customization of system management features. HPM.1 based updates are available for all programmable components (BIOS, IPMC firmware, FPGA) including rollback support. Advantech's IPMI solution, with its optimized AMI UEFI BIOS offers advanced features used on previous blades, such as BIOS redundancy, RTC Synchronization, CMOS Backup, CMOS Override and MAC Mirroring. The IPMI firmware complies with the Polaris Networks ATCA Test Suite.
The MIC-5332 supports hot-swappable RTMs such as the RTM-5104, rear I/O and dual SAS storage with RAID as well as an optional FMM.
